BSNL promises better tele-connectivity in islands; set to increase bandwith upto 1 Gbps by December

Aimed at providing better connectivity to its customers,  BSNL is all set to increase its total bandwidth upto 1 Gbps by December this year, for which one new satellite Earth Station at Shadipur.  Informing this here today its Chief General Manager, A&N Circle, Shri RN Jha said after the new building of BSNL, at Shadipur becomes functional, these islands will witness substantial improvement in connectivity.  He further said that additional 50Mbps satellite bandwidth is likely to be added in one month's time which will take total satellite connectivity to 528Mbps against the targeted bandwidth of 500Mbps by August 2015.  The CGM said that the 2nd Optical Fibre Cable between  Port Blair to Diglipur has been planned to be laid during this financial year which will minimize the frequent breakdown of telecom services. About laying of submarine optical fibre cable from mainland to Port Blair and from Port Blair to Campbell Bay via Hut Bay, Carnicobar & Kamorta,the CGM said that DPR for the project has been submitted to the department of telecommunication, GoI which is likely to be approved by December this year and the project will be completed in two years' time from the date of the award of the work, he said.
The CGM also informed about the newly launched free incoming calls to its mobile customer while in roaming across the country. Now BSNL mobile customers do not need to carry multiple SIMs and are free to talk as long as they want without worrying for any charges during incoming calls.

Mobile tower set up at 16,000 feet in Ladakh 

State-run BSNL, with the Army's assistance, today operationalised a mobile tower at an altitude of 16,000 feet in Eastern Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir. "The highest mobile tower in Eastern Ladakh at an altitude of 16,000 feet has been operationalised today in a joint effort by the BSNL and Indian Army," Udhampur-based defence spokesman Colonel S D Goswami said. He said the tower provides vital communication link to one of the remotest locations of Eastern Ladakh at Chongtash. "The mobile tower at Chongtash has been established with assistance from the Indian Army's Trishul Signallers in terms of transportation, setting up and rearward connectivity," he added. The spokesman said the Army with this effort continues to contribute towards development of communication infrastructure for benefit of the local population of Ladakh.

MTNL's loss Rs.595.11 crore in the quarter ended with 31st March. MTNL is reported to have run into a loss of Rs.595.11 crore in the quarter ended with 31st March 2015. However, income from operations of the Company has increased during this period. MTNL has earned Rs.876.42 crore from operations during this period, whereas, the amount stood at only Rs.841.73 crore for the same period during last year. On the overall, MTNL's net loss during 2014-15 comes to Rs.2893.39 crore. The Company earned a net profit of Rs.7825.13 crore during the previous year

A convention of all Central Trade Unions was held at Mavalankar hall on 26.5.15 under the leadership of BMS to protest against the anti worker policies of the central Government.
